Co-organised by SFAA, hosted by Lions Club, the Hong Kong School Sustainable Clothing Poster Design Competition and Clothing Recycling Program covers many schools in multiple districts across Hong Kong, and has collected tons of used clothing. A total of 20 outstanding works were selected in the poster design competition from primary, secondary and special schools (SEN), showing students' new vitality in environmental protection.
Our founding chairman Stafford Lau and Lions Club representatives visited multiple schools to explain the recycling classification of used clothes to teachers and students, cultivate recycling awareness, and actively educate them to reduce waste at the source. Stafford has been working in the garment industry for many years. He said this recycling activity has educated students about different clothing fibers, encouraged them to choose clothes made of degradable natural fibers when buying and learn to reduce waste at the source. He added that the old clothes collected this time can be recycled into new fabrics and new clothes after decomposition.
This recycling event features a sustainable clothing poster design competition to inspire students' innovative thinking through drawing and design, encouraged them to boldly express their new ideas of “environmentally friendly”. The competition aims to effectively enhance students’ environmental awareness through their participation and interaction, and to cultivate them into a new generation that care for our mother earth.
