Our Vision and Mission

SFAA is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainability in Hong Kong fashion designs by encouraging the use of eco-friendly materials and production processes. The organization also advocates for the garment industry's ethical and fair labour practices. SFAA offers training and resources to young designers on how to incorporate sustainable practices into their businesses, such as using recycled materials, reducing waste, and improving the overall environmental impact of their operations. By promoting sustainability, SFAA seeks to create a more responsible and conscious fashion industry in Hong Kong.

SFAA-Fashion Designer Incubation Centre Facilities and Technical Support founded on 2022

Founded in 2022, the Fashion Designer Incubation Centre is a 4,000 sq. ft. one-stop service centre offering technical support, seminars, and experienced pattern makers and seamstresses on-site. It is divided into four sections: the cut & sew workshop; the washing sample room; the laser print, Ozone bleach & E-Flow workshop; and the co-working space.

The Hong Kong Washing Design R&D Office offers technical support and seminars on denim washing techniques. At the same time, Jeanologia (Spain) provides sustainable laser printing, ozone bleach, E-Flow facilities, and technical support in Hong Kong. The denim washing and finishing facilities offer technical support on stone wash, grind wash, bleach, distressed effect, and more. New processing methods that are economical and environmentally friendly are developed, such as laser technology, mechanical wear, ozone fading, and water jet fading, using less water and energy.

The centre offers a co-working space for startup designers to interact with professionals, a fabric library, sponsorships for talented designers, a showroom featuring different types of jeans and washing panels for inspiration, and seminars/webinars on the latest fashion trends and product development. It also provides market information, online marketing, pop-up stores, store openings, and technology seminars. Additionally, product shooting facilities and a live-streaming studio are available.

Our Story

Hong Kong was an international fashion hub. The denim fabric and garment manufacturing industry was boomed during the 80s. As a Hong Kong denim fabric manufacturer collaborating with different local, new fashion designers, institutional professors, and students, we have realized that there is a lack of industrial support for bridging the gap between the new designers from the institutes to the industry, which gradually discourages their passion and aspiration about fashion design.

Therefore, SFAA is was founded. By providing technical support and opportunities, including small-scale garment production, denim wash support, and co-working space, we hope to reignite the passion of the new fashion designers, help them transform their interest into a career, and so that they can contribute to pass down the Hong Kong fashion design industry.
