Hong Kong-style cheongsam is a significant representation of traditional Chinese female dress. Inscribed on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017, it was further inscribed on the "National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of China" in June 2021.
To preserve the sewing technique of Hong Kong-style cheongsam and encourage the next generation to value this traditional craftsmanship, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office and the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong have organized the "Transmission Scheme for Hong Kong-style Cheongsam Sewing Technique" since 2018. Activities such as women's cheongsam making classes, exhibitions, and shows were held at various museums and institutions.
The "Next in Elderly Fashion Show/Competition" is a non-profit activity that promotes this intangible cultural heritage and allows students to research and support the elderly community using new technology and traditional techniques.
